Suffolk

The Windsor Suffolk stud was purchased off Roger and Rosemary Hamilton of Winton in 2008. This purchase was undertaken after searching the market place for several years for the right type of Suffolk ewes to launch our terminal program. This has then lead to the re-branding of Fernvale Romneys to Fernvale Genetics. 

By purchasing the Windsor Stud, we have targeted a modern heavy-boned type Suffolk ewe. We are very mindful of steering away from the traditional American-type Suffolk that has no place in New Zealand's farming systems. This is due to the fact that they lack in constitution and struggle to handle the commercial New Zealand farming environment.
